Grant-funded projects of the RTA
AMORE Ridesharing Service. The Regional Transportation Authority has launched an innovative, transit-hailing service in the Rita Ranch area of Tucson through a grant funded by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and in partnership with Metropia, a Tucson-based transportation app provider, and RubyRide, a ridesharing service.
Adaptive Mobility with Reliability and Efficiency (AMORE) is one of just 11 FTA-funded mobility-on-demand programs nationwide seeking to find smarter, integrated multimodal solutions to regional mobility and accessibility challenges. The affordable transit-hailing service, which allows people to schedule point-to-point trips in the service area via the AMORE Ride app, is designed to help close first- and last-mile transit gaps by connecting riders to public transit options, such as park-and-ride lots or bus stops to access Sun Tran or Sun Shuttle routes. AMORE launched pilot testing in June 2018 and its AMORE Ride app in December 2018.
