On May 16, 2006, Pima County voters approved the RTA's $2.1 billion, 20-year regional transportation plan and half-cent sales tax to fund the plan. The RTA is the fiscal manager of the RTA plan, which includes roadway, safety, transit, and environmental and economic vitality projects. More than 400 projects have been completed across the Pima County region in the past five years.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 4 p.m., the City of Tucson opened bids for the construction of the Tucson Modern Streetcar Project, which is co-managed by the RTA. The apparent low bidder is Old Pueblo Track Works with a bid of $55,875,115. This compares to the engineers' estimate of $62,455,529 for the project. For details, click on the news release below:
