The Regional Transportation Authority managed the design and right-of-way acquisition phases of the Valencia Road, Wilmot Road to Kolb Road, project and these phases are substantially complete. The project has been handed over to the City of Tucson who will administer the construction phase since much of the project is within the City of Tucson as a result of annexations which occurred.
The corridor improvement project was approved by Pima County voters in May 2006 as part of the RTA plan. Pima County conducted the initial planning work on the project and turned the project over to the RTA in December 2012 for completion.
The proposed project is known as a PAGI (parkway at grade intersection) and will provide improvements to alleviate traffic congestion and connect to future improvements to Valencia Road, east to Houghton Road.
The construction phase of the project is expected to start in early 2018 and at this time is estimated to last approximately 18 months.
A public meeting will be held by the City of Tucson once a contractor is selected. If you would like to be added to a project contact list, please email your contact information to email@example.com
