Sun Tran completed the new $3 million bus storage and maintenance facility in October 2009.
In May 2009, the RTA introduced a new neighborhood transit circulator service in the communities of Marana, Oro Valley/Catalina and Green Valley/Sahuarita. The Sun Shuttle service has community routes with destination stops for medical, retail and recreational access and also connects with the Sun Tran fixed-route service.
Since the inception of the RTA plan, six new park-and-rides have been added to the transit system. Two other permanent park-and-ride sites, one in the city of Tucson and the other in the Town of Marana are currently in the planning stages and are anticipated to be completed near the end of the first period of the RTA plan.
