Established in 1980 with Pima County and transferred to the RTA in 2011, Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride provides door-to-door paratransit service to persons with disabilities living outside the Tucson city limits or City of Tucson residents needing to reach destinations outside the city limits.

Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride is provided by Total Transit, a private company holding the service contract with the RTA since May 2014. Under the name Discount Cab, Total Transit operates a fleet of taxi cabs and modified vans, which are fully equipped to load and unload wheelchair passengers of all ages and abilities. In fiscal year 2014-15, Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride provided over 164,000 passenger trips throughout the greater Tucson region.
